Does Etsy show real search volume?

The honest answer is no. Etsy does not publish real search volume to sellers or to anyone else. So every tool that shows you a neat monthly search count for a keyword is not reading Etsy's data, because that data is not available. It is estimating, then presenting the estimate as if it were a measurement.

What Etsy actually gives you

Etsy shares some genuinely useful signals: its own trend write-ups, the search bar autocomplete, and, for eligible sellers, Etsy Marketplace Insights. What it does not hand out is the underlying number of times a term was searched. That figure stays inside Etsy. Any dashboard quoting it precisely has filled the gap with a model.

What this means for every keyword tool

If the real number is not public, then every tool is working from indirect signals and its own formula. That is why:

None of that makes the tools useless. It makes them directional at best, and dangerous if you treat a made-up number as truth.

How to work without the real number

You do not actually need an exact search count to decide what to make. You need to know what is rising, and you need a source you can check. Watch signals you can trace: rising searches climbing now, what big retail and colour forecasts are previewing, the seasonal calendar. Then use the marketplace only to confirm. (More in why keyword tools disagree.)

Common questions

Does Etsy show search volume?

No. Etsy does not publish search volume to sellers or to third parties. Any tool showing a precise search count is estimating it from indirect signals, not reading Etsy's real data.

If Etsy hides search volume, how do keyword tools have numbers?

They model it from public signals like listing counts and their own formulas. That is why the numbers are estimates and why two tools often disagree for the same term.
