How to spot a trend before it gets saturated

The trick to spotting a trend early is learning the difference between rising and risen. A rising trend still has room: few listings, climbing interest, not yet a category. A risen one is everywhere, and you would be joining at the back of the queue.

Signs a trend is still early

Signs you are already late

The check that saves you hours

Always date-check a signal. A pin, listing or article from last year can look current and send you chasing a trend that already peaked. Confirm it is rising *now*. (This is also how you tell a trend from a fad.)

Working out what is genuinely rising, every month, across a whole niche, is the slow part. Digital Product Forecast does it for you. See what's rising, start free

Common questions

How do I know if a trend is too late?

If it is already a visible bestseller category with thousands of similar listings, you are late. Look for rising interest that has not yet become a crowded category.

How can I catch a trend early?

Watch leading signals (big retail, fashion, forecasts, rising search) rather than bestseller lists, and date-check that interest is climbing now, not last year.
